It’s cliche to do year long resolutions. Doing “no-resolutions” has become a little hip, so I’m calling that a new cliche as well. Instead, I’m doing monthly resolutions, every month, for this year*.
- Lose 2 pounds: People like to say they will lose 15 pounds in a year. I’m just going for 2 pounds in a month. If that works, it’ll be 24 pounds by the end of the year. Achievable!
- Close 2 new accounts: And closing in a good way, for sales. Our business (comal productions) is a new web design startup, so I want to close at least 2 new deals this month.
- Read 2 books: After being laid off, I let my reading slide. No longer! 2 books, and I don’t care if they are fact or fiction. Normally I’ll alternate, but I’m currently eyeing Chris Brogan’s Trust Agents and Web Analytics 2.0. Both are business/web books, and I’m excited about each (dork).
I’ll update this post when I accomplish my items and/or February rolls around. Happy New Year!
* I think this fits with the way I view goals in general: keep your goalposts closer to you and you’ll be able to reach them. Big, long, lofty goals have a way of never getting achieved and are easily forgotten.
